Mrs. Perry...
I grew up in West Springfield, out in Western Massachusetts. After graduating from Western New England College and spending time at home raising my three children, I returned to Lesley University to earn my Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I graduated in May 2003 and have since been living my life long desire to teach.
I have had the pleasure of teaching in the Mendon-Upton School District since the fall of 2003. My first position was as an Academic Tutor for 5th and 6th grade students at Miscoe Hill Middle School. At the end of my Tutor year I was offered a position as a Fourth Grade teacher, where I taught until 2010, when I was asked if I would like to change grades. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my position in fourth grade, I was delighted to move to a grade I had always wanted to teach!
When I am not at Memorial School my favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family. My husband Steve works in the field of business. We have 3 children. Bethany is 27 and lives in Somerville, MA. She is a second grade teacher at a Charter School in the city. Matthew is 23 and lives in Cambridge. He is currently working at the State House in Boston. Hannah is 19 and is just starting her Sophomore year at Emmanuel College in Boston. When we can align everyone’s schedule we love to cook and share meals together and we like to spend time at the beach. Our annual vacation to Cape Cod is one that the whole family looks forward to each year.
My time in the classroom is special to me and it is my hope that the year that I spend with you and your child will make a difference in all of our lives. I believe that I am just as much a learner as I am a teacher. It is without a doubt that every year I learn something new from the students and families that I work with. These lessons help me to grow and become a better teacher. I thank you in advance for the year long journey that we will embark on. Together I believe we can help your child achieve and grow as he/she experiences new things in second grade.
